Selling on Facebook Marketplace

In organizing the house for our upcoming move, hubby and I realized we had a lot of books we feel comfortable selling or donating. So I decided to get rid of them by selling on Facebook Marketplace and a few days later I made a sale!

When I first moved in with my hubby, I sold a lot of my furniture and housewares there too. We both had a full person’s life full of things, so duplicates of many items. it was easy to set up the listing and arrange the sale.

We usually try to donate many things, but we decided to put things up on Facebook Marketplace for a few days to see if there were any takers. This time it was books, but previously we sold furniture, housewares, clothing, shoes, bags, and fitness equipment.

Improve your chances

Some tips to improve your chances of selling on Facebook Marketplace:

• Join Local Sellers groups for your city or area & post in those groups
• Join Specific Groups that focus on what you are trying to sell such as Books, or Kids items
• Use Descriptive Titles, Descriptions, and Tags in every post
• Use Multiple Photos on Each Post, Use good lighting and varying angles of the item.

Have you used Facebook Marketplace? For baby furniture and items we have used Rebelstork, which is an online reseller of used baby items. They do all the work for you, but they take a big cut of your profit. You don’t have to share your address with strangers, or meet anyone in person, so it’s also a bit safer.
